Android Engineer

Reports to:

Applications Program Manager

Work Station:

Headquarters, Ghana

Job Purpose: 

• To develop and maintain mobile apps for Google’s android platform.

Responsibilities (functions and duties):

• Design and build mobile apps in line with the company’s objectives;
• Maintain apps by fixing bugs, and performance issues identified in the apps;
• Publish apps to various app stores;
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features;
• Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability;
• Development of requirements/specifications for custom OS implementation;

Knowledge and Critical Skills:

• One year experience in building mobile software;
• Two  years’ experience in Java;
• Two years’ experience working with remote data via REST and JSON;
• Knowledge of at least one  hybrid mobile apps platform such as Phonegap, Xamarin, or Titanium.
• Excellent problem-solving, research and debugging skills
• Ability to work with little or no supervision within a team to achieve various company objectives;
• Builds effective relationships through positive communication, honesty and trust;
• Ability to work effectively in a highly complex, diverse, changing environment. Adapts well to and is energized by change whilst maintaining focus on key business goals and personal objectives;
• Achieves results by firm prioritization, setting realistic goals, analysis and decision-making. Shows tenacity in achieving results;

Qualifications:

• Tertiary certificate, or Degree in Computer Science or an allied field;
• Experience in C#, Java, or other C-like object oriented language
• Qualified candidates from other parts of Nigeria can apply
